A deafening silence

The sounds of Africa fall asleep

‘The silence is deafening. What have you been doing?’ asked a friend of mine when I hadn’t posted anything on the Play d’eau site for three months.

I started to explain only to be met with the comment, ‘Excuses, excuses, excuses. Just get on and do something!’ It takes a close friend to tell you the truth, doesn’t it?

Hectic, but exciting

I know I shouldn’t make excuses, but in the last three months life has been hectic yet so exciting. Lin and I have,

  • Been back to South Africa – again!
  • Had our 12 year old grandson to stay
  • Had a son, his wife and two children to stay
  • Given Play d’eau her annual service ready for our summer cruise
  • Had another son and his Fiancée to stay
Over the next few days

We’ll be making short posts of all the above, to try to make up for our silence.

  • Thank you Piers for the update, I too had thoughts of he’s not doing anything after the refit up the Itchen, 😉

    Safe seas, best regards

    David.

    • Hi David. It’s been a really interesting last few months of keeping the plates spinning in the air. But Play d’eau is ready for another season and we’ll be casting off towards the end of May for the west coast of Brittany again. More great cider, more even greater food – such a struggle.

Thanks for the bulletin. I also was curious about the silence. Love to hear your news. xx

Glad that you have settled down in your retirement, JK.
    Here is wishing the best.

    Dear Piers,

You (?) sit on the naughty step? Never. You are one of the busiest people I know! The trouble is – we all love knowing what you are doing. Your lives are so exciting and, deep down, most people would love to live their lives with the kind of freedom and zest that you do. Thank you for letting us know- and we look forward to more!

Lots of love, Hil x x
